I hope Brown knows something we don't here, because I'm feeling very underwhelmed by the names being mentioned. Walsh is a good signing, but it doesn't make sense that it's being followed up with these sorts of players.

We can be bold enough to make a stand and do battle for our views and beliefs. But we must strive to be mature enough not to resort to unnecessary personal attacks upon people with opposing views.

Re: Tony Clubb : Fri Jun 07, 2013 8:24 pm
Would Clubb be coming in for any of the props???

Don't forget Flanaghan is up for contract talks. So Clubb for Flanaghan maybe what is more in mind, bulking up the backrow. Yes we have Manu and Sia, but they can't play 80 minutes every week. So Clubb would add some bulk in the backrow, rather than the front row.

He sounds very promising, he's comeback from a career ending back injury, he then had a bad broken leg and only played a bit part in one game last season.

I'm very excited, where do I sign up for my new season ticket? The likes of Clubb, Dawson and Beuamont are the type of players " to grace our great stadium".

What a pile of fu**ing sh*t!!!

It could be a sign off a mass clearout though? Need the backup players to support the first teamers?

Second rate injury prone players as back up doesn't excite me one little bit.

Re: Tony Clubb : Sat Jun 08, 2013 10:14 am
I am not thrilled by the idea of signing Clubb. He is not a bad player but he is just not what we need right now. He started as a block busting centre but poor defence against smaller men has moved him into the pack. He is a big back rower or a smallish prop, neither we need. I am also worried about what effect this will have on Louie, having one of his old drinking buddies at the club is hardly going to arrest his downward spiral. If we are raiding London for a prop I would have rather it be Krasniqi.

As for the other two boys (Dawson and Beaumont) I have no issue with either as both will be coming here on lunch money. If they are good then well done the club if they are not we have not lost much.

Most of our best signings have been players at smaller clubs or fringe players that have not stood out yet. Martyn/Joynt were both from Oldham, Goulding/Hammond/Long Widnes and the best example of them all Martin Gleeson from Huddersfield. No one can admit seeing Gleeson at Huddersfield and staying that he was going to be a GB regular for 10 years after we signed him. That was just good scouting and a gamble that paid off and the club needs to get back to doing that rather than just depending on the juniors.

This idea of we have to sign world class internationals is a new (last 10 years) idea for the club and it has not always worked, for every Britt, Fairleigh or Lyon we have had a Hohaia, Perry or Laffranchi.

Clubb is the equivalent of, say, Josh Jones. I don't think he's the sort of player we need.
