I thought we were comfortably the better team in the first half, out muscling them up front, and Wilkin's kicking game gave us decent field position. I thought our defence was good on the whole, and as I said, we dominated field position in that first half. Pretty much all their tries came from Saints errors, forward pass for Puletua, and Walmsley's two errors at the ptb.

2nd half, our completion rate completely dropped, whilst Hull kept their's high, and that was the major difference in the end. We were visibly shattered towards the end, and in all honesty, we were lucky too come out of that game with a point.

The loss of Wellens was a huge factor, and as good as Tommy Mak is, he isn't, or never will be a full back IMO. What on earth was going through his mind when he through the ball away I don't know.

Even when the forwards were in control of the game, we seemed incapable of finding quick play the balls, and that has been visible in all three games so far. I know I keep on repeating myself, but we are in desperate need of a half back who can get us round the field, doesn't have to be a world beater, just someone who can take the game by the scruff off the neck and organise things. It says something about the halves when your loose forward is taking the ball at first receiver, and although Wilkin had a decent game, he isn't the answer.

Until we find a half decent half back, we will continue to struggle. Simple as

You base that on what? 15 minutes in the position when at the same time the team fell apart and couldn't get out of its own 20? The last time he played first grade fullback was the GF in 2011 for goodness sake. How long do you think it took Wello to be a fullback? Two halves of games separated by a full season? Your comment is ridiculous.

He played full back Good Friday last season when wello was banned I think tommy is good player and I have always rated him but he look lost last night when he went to full back but he well problary get another chance there next week if wello ain't fit to put things right

I thought we were lucky to get a point, we were marginally the best team in the first half but were hanging on before half time.
The second half we were shocking and only got a point due to Hull's ineptitude in finishing us off.
Everyone around me said it was our best performance of the three games so far - thank god it was my first veiwing because I can't imagine seeing worse.

I thought Walmsley looked really good when he first came on but he tired quickly and Brown kept him on too long and he made two poor errors at the PTB. He looks a very good prospect but short of match fitness.

Greenwood on the other hand failed to make much impression at all.

Wilkin looks gone to me; ready for the knackers yard and a burger after life.

Our line defense looked awfully lob sided with our right hand side being short of numbers on numerous occasions.

We were out on our feet for the last 20 mins and another 5 mins and we would have lost.
Overall, we look to have gone backwards from last season and I can only put that down to Brown.

To be fair, though, surely you can see that the whole team looked lost once Wello had gone off? It's become a feature of Saints in recent years, certainly since Jammer left: something unexpected happens and Saints soon look like a lot of headless chickens.

I hope he does get another chance next week assuming that chance is planned and the team train accordingly because so far he has only ever been thrown into the role, the most demanding time was during the 2011 GF, when yet again he had to deal with the whole team being in disarray (once again as a result of injuries happening).

No, I am basing it on having watched him play since he was 18 years of age.

Since he played in the first grade GF at 19 then I guess you've hardly seen him play at fullback at all, just as I thought.

To put it in more simple terms for you, I am basing it on his overall skill set rather than his performances at full back, and after seeing him play since being in the under 20's, I am in a position to make that judgement.

I think you may have mixed Walmsley and Greenwood up. It was the former who made the errors at the PTB.
