I'd say Robes, Soliola, Lomax, Makinson and Laffranchi were our best players.

Re: Warrington discussion : Sat Sep 15, 2012 8:57 pm
While we played well, I think we also got lucky. Had Atkins and Riley had their act together that is three tries they would have scored on our right. Our right needs some attention as it doesn't slide as it should. That's up to the coach to sort out. Meli's try should never have been awarded as his foot was clearly in touch (a replay showed that) but thankfully the touchie was blind and the video ref wasn't asked to look at that part of the play. Perry, Meli and LMS all need a kick up the jacksie to keep hold of the ball and not give away penalties.

And we have been here before, many, many times. We've played great in the playoffs and then choked in the final.

It was good to see us play, for once - though I'd like a refund on my season ticket given all the dire stuff I've had to put up with - and it was great to get the win. But I've been here too often of late to read anything into it.

Men of the match tonight were Roby, Sia and TMak. Honourable mention to Gary Wheeler who tackled until he was sweating blood.

He did. He also showed some good footwork and pace, and he was always in support.

We can be bold enough to make a stand and do battle for our views and beliefs. But we must strive to be mature enough not to resort to unnecessary personal attacks upon people with opposing views.

Re: Warrington discussion : Sat Sep 15, 2012 10:13 pm
Sia really turned it on tonight.

Scored the first, made the 2nd, and had a hand in a few others.

Gave Warrington quite a few hard hits, one or two knocking the ball out.

Re: Warrington discussion : Sun Sep 16, 2012 10:15 am
It was a great display especially 2nd half. To go to Warrington and concede just 6 points is a special effort, they haven't been restricted to that number of points for over 3 years. I don't care if they bombed some chances, they're a good team, they will create chances. To keep them to 6 is a great effort and backed up by restricting Wigan to 18 points last week, it tells you where we are defensively right now. Full credit to Rush and the players, it's an area where we've been good for the majority of the season.

The problem still comes when we have the ball. Some of the errors we made were shocking, Perry and LMS being the big culprits. Perry had a shocker and hopefully it was a one off and he'll play better next time. We need to make sure we're not giving away cheap ball and cheap penalties because Warrington, Leeds or Wigan will punish us if we keep gifting them possession. On the positive I actually thought we utilised our dummy runners and executed our set plays alot better yesterday than we have done for a while, which is good news. Hopefully with the week off we can sharpen up in this area in training because we were a threat at times yesterday. I also think our best ploy is our offloading which has worked well for us the last 2 weeks. When Puletua runs down the middle and offloads the ball it causes chaos as he attracts 2 and 3 defenders. You won't beat teams by playing one out rugby, you need to attack teams and we're at our best when we have a bit of space in broken field especially with Roby, Lomax and Hohaia supporting the offload.

Fantastic display. As Blobby says, we were still a little frustrating with the ball, but there was much more running off the ball going on, which made us a more difficult proposition to defend against. Our kicking game was better, but I can't help feeling that was more through luck than judgement.

Our forward pack was magnificent, as was our defence all round. Our line speed was rapid, and, most pleasingly, our edge defence was very patient and composed. It will need to stay that way if we're going to compete with Wigan and Wire in the rest of the playoffs.
