Er, no it's not. At least the south side of it isn't. There is a great big open space from the stadium up to God knows where on the south side. And it's the south side which has suffered damage.
its not like its the top of billinge lump though is it? even if by some miricle it did get to 70mph, thats hardly exceptional and the stadium should have been designed to take much more = shoddy job by someone
Where in the south stand is it damaged?
it isnt its the west stand, albeit at the south stand corner.
If I were you guys, i'd be worried about starting the season at Langtree. The officials will have that exact same view Pete. IF this were to happen during a game. So, out come the investigators, structural engineers etc etc, to find out what happened, what to do to fix it, and how to garauntee that it doesn't happen again.
I can't see it being a quick process. We're looking at a corner which, admittedly, there is a HUGE stress on corners, but is there an issue with anywhere else in the stadium....
Time will tell I guess....
It's not very often that I agree with Wigan Fans but I fully agree that spectator safety must be paramount when the investigatory work is carried out on the damaged corner and that a thorough check of the remaining roofing is completed. As I mentioned on another board that we do not want RL going down the route of Stadia Disaster as other Sports have in the past.

If i was you i wouldnt troll unless i wanted a permanent ban, be warned
Has planning permission been granted for the cladding of the remainder of the ground. It's just that I was speaking to someone (who should know) last week and he said that it hadn't been approved yet.
If they 'should know' then they would know that it has been approved.
He should indeed, especially as he commentator at Saints for local radio.

i dont see how that'd put him in the loop as such, just gets standard media info from saints

Sorry Simon, I hope you don't constitute the above as Trolling. It is most certainly not. If I were a Saints fan, I would be worried about starting the season at Langtree. If i were trolling, I would be saying "HA HA, no chance that's going to be ready", but I am not... this is serious, and I fail to see how anyone couldn't be worried, this late in the day, with such a catatrophic failure of the building.
As a person, I'd prefer nobody (Including Saints Fans) die, or be injured in the stadium through something that could've been prevented, and if preventing that means covering the first few games elsewhere, then so be it. If anyone finds this opinion wrong, or considers it trolling, they need to look at themselves very closely and consider where their priorities are.

all true, but calling Langtree park Poor in a previous post was a bit much. Its not ideal, but it'll be sorted, Eamon will have parts of someone anatomy delivered on a platter, and all will be good in the world.

Look, Simon, I know you like to have a go but on this occasion I am repeating what has been stated. The figure of 70mph was again confirmed - by reference to meteoralogical data - on the local BBC news tonight. So don't bother arguing with me. Go contact the relevant authorities instead.

Fog lamps in the rain NO NO NO NO....they just dazzle other road users....called FOG lamps for a reason ya know
It was a perfectly justifiable use of fog lamps. I could see feck all and that is likely to mean that others couldn't see much either. I wanted to see and be seen, both driving and when stationary. Once the rain began to ease from the torrential horizontal stuff I switched the fogs off.
