Success is not final; failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts. (Winston Churchill)

Oh sorry thought you were meeting the love of your life Saints fan in the big smoke

Nah. Pete wussed out!

I went though. It was a good day. Loads of Saints fans turned out. Well impressed I was.

The first half was dire - for the usual reasons (dropped ball by the senior players and stupid penalties including a march back 10ms care of James Graham!). The second half was totally different. I don't think we dropped the ball once and consequently we got to grips with things.

It was great to see so many of our young players out there today. And Carl Forster finally got his debut in! My MoM was Wheeler. He was caught out of position in goal line defence a couple of times but that's to be expected as he has been playing in the halves in the u20s and hasn't played a senior match since Easter. But he showed great footwork, great hands and worked very hard. An example of just how good he is was the occasion he was the only player to realise that the ball was loose over the line and Quins could have scored had he not kicked it away. I love it when he's on the pitch as he sees things a lot of our other players (seniors included) either don't see or are too caught up with doing other stuff to cover.

I think it's past putting cream on, my whole hand is like a balloon now. Going the walk in centre in morning.

It's that bad I've only had few pints after the match and come home. It's usually a all day drinking session after the game.

It's brought tears to eyes of fully grown men it looks that bad and also brought sick to other.

You can actually see and touch bone

I think I had a jab last year when split my eye and needed stitches. I'm sure they give you a tetanus when they stitch you. Hope so as I hate needles!

Is it me or does Armsrong seem to score in every game, I've not checked the stats but he must have a good try to game ratio.

In the occasional televised game when he played at Leigh he seemed to get on the scoresheet.

Just has the knack of being in the right place at the right time.

Re: Quins game : Sun Sep 11, 2011 10:14 am
Thanks to SaintsFan for the comments he left on Our board, much appreciated, I always liked The Stoop first time around but this time it has not felt quite the same. I supported fully the change of name to Quins, I felt we may benefit from the corporate angle and sponsorship but for me the branding has hindered us.

I do find it sad that one gloating fan had to visit our board with a cynical comment to someone prior to the game who had said he was optimistic (well we have had a few wins and draws over the years) as I have said on the thread it would be sad if any fan of a team before a game was not feeling that way, but for someone to visit just minutes after the end of the match and not even visit here? their home club board? everyone to themselves I suppose.

Once again David Hughes is putting his money were his mouth is and backing the development and team building for next season in London, the amateur game is still growing more so at the youth level and lads who would have gone first to union, those who get scholarships and I know a few are over the moon! now with major sponsorship real big money this summer sees a real effort with young people in the East End of London, okay it is 30 years now but most Northern clubs still have another 80 or so years start on us.

Good way to sign off for Tom Armstrong. That was probably his last game for Saints, so well done lad. Hat trick, and all the best for the future.
