Nothing to stop all these Wire fans buying tickets from Saints.

I do think the selling policy for the South stand was a bit poor, but maybe they are looking to make a big push for it at the new place rather than this year.

It still doesn't make much sense; if the south stand is nearly empty that means surely that we haven't sold our own "home" allocation in spite of having sold more season tickets than at KR? Does this then mean that the casual / irregular support has dropped off significantly?

I think you have pretty much answered your own question there.

From looking at the online ticketing system, I compared the pre booked Quins tickets (before that option was withdrawn from the system) to those of the Wire game, and the North stand was pretty much full anyhow for that game, without people buying single match tickets.

I reckon Saints have probably only sold an extra 1000-1500 match day tickets for this clash, whereas normally they would have 5k turning up on spec. It will be interesting on Friday to see if there are many who just turn up without a ticket with the aim of paying on the day. I personally doubt it.

What it shows is that our hardcore fan base is around 6k to 7k. Made up mainly of season ticket holders and others who for personal reasons have chosen not to get a season ticket.
The less committed have simply taken the decision that getting to Widnes is too much hassle.
The worry is that having got out of the habit, these fans may be hard to win back when Saints move into the new ground.

Isn't the South Stand the one opposite the TV cameras and also the biggest one? Will look poor on TV. Perhaps you should allow Widnes season ticket holders in to make up the numbers.

I believe the north stand is the biggest, but I could be wrong!

I wouldent go to any game unless I was a season ticket holder (which I am) the costs are stupid. £5 to get to Widnes is bad enough then I've got to spend £4 on buses in St Helens. If I had a family it would be far too expensive.

Pay day today so I'll be off my rocket hopefully! Come on you saints!!!!!

Not speaking about you in particular, but many Saints fans resent having to spend an extra £4 on getting to Widnes to support their team but don't mind spending £40 in the pub while they watch on TV. Bloody idiots.

PS: Junior tickets are free on the Arriva rugby bus, so having children isn't an excuse not to travel!

SAINTS THE ORIGINAL AND PERENNIAL CHEATS

For sale full Saints kit (circa 1989). Shirts in pristine condition, but shorts badly soiled.

For 27 - 0 you get a trophy
For 75 - 0 you get sod all.

Wigan had eight in a row
Saints have five in a row

Doctor, help, I agree with SaintsFan

Seriously, I've argued the same point many times with our own fans at Wigan. They'll go out and spend £40 - £50 on a "night out" but moan like hell about ticket prices, the WCC game being a prime example.

The North Stand is oppo. The South Stand is the 'Main Stand' where the TV camera's are.

Thank feck for that then. Maybe there won't be too many glimpses of an empty stand to embarrass those of us who have made the effort to get there, as opposed to waddle down to the pub.
