According to League Weekly, Saints have offered Meli a two year deal but he is thinking of the Dragons instead as apparently they are interested.

A two year deal for Meli.

I know you have a pathological dislike for Meli, but there isn't anything better available.

NOOOO!!!

That suggests to me we having trouble finding a winger. Meli was told very early in the year that he's free to talk to other clubs.

There's going to be a big hole in our "Go Forward" when Meli leaves. I don't know if people appreciate this.
When he's on the wing his strength taking the ball out of our half is fantastic and if he's selected in the centre he's a very potent attacking player.

I have no problems with Meli getting another year judging by the quality of off contract SL wingers available. He's better than the likes of Sheriff, Josh Hodgson & others on the list. Wouldnt give him twp though, we need some flexibility on cap for Brown & im sure someone will be off contract the year after. If he doesnt accept a year then id run with Ade, Tommy Mak & Swift. Wheeler & Jones can fill in there when required. Not ideal but neither is two yrs for Meli.

It's been obvious that Meli has been playing for a new contract the last few weeks. Never seen him work so hard, but I think we'd be mugs to give him one.

Meli is a very desirable centre in my opinion. The problem is that he's an inconsistant winger and, given our personel, our needs seem to force him onto the wing.

Nothing pathalogical about it. He will be incompetent when we most need him to be competent and as a (very) senior player, I find that unforgivable.

I am quite sure there are other wingers around although before anyone hounds me to death over it I haven't given options a moment's thought. All I know is that I want Meli gone, regardless of his 'go forward'. It's his dropsy and cant-be-arsed defending/getting the ball aspects that I dislike him for and that repeatedly undermine us.
