Finch was always a non-starter due to the overseas/quota thing. Doesn't stop the press and the Nosey Parkers of this world making stuff up though.

As for Matty Smith - Wigan are welcome to him. It seems to me this idea that Matty Smith turned down Saints to sign for Wigan is - once again - another myth created in Wigan in order to "sell" to the Wigan fans the replacing of a New Zealand international with Matty Smith. It works every time. The Wiganers become so fixated on the idea of getting 'one up' on Saints they end up ignoring the fact that its actually a rubbish signing. Its happened before. It'll happen again. Whats more i can guarantee if Saints announced the signing of Matty Smith all i'd see on this board is 'lack of ambition' and 'poor recuritment policy'.

Finally, how has Gaskell been frozen out when he was a sub at the Hull game last week, and came on at some point during the 2nd half?

It's reassuring that Brown appears to see Hohaiah as something other than a halfback which should hopefully pave the way for Gaskell to reclaim a starting spot.

Everyone who I've spoken to after the match was quite impressed with Lance as a tackler, he has no problems putting a big man down and has no fear in the tackle is quite aggressive. So could he play LF, I know he is small in stature, but Kevin Sinfield is hardly huge, Wilkin is not a bulky player. Did we not use Moore in that role last year for his tackling and ball playing skills??

Lance to LF, you would get an aggressive tackler with some ball playing skill going forwards????? In a bigger pack next year we could afford to have a ball player at LF who can still match up with the tackles.

Yes. But we also used Robes there too, moving Moore to hooker, when both Moore and Robes were on the pitch. We also used Wilkin there.

I think Lance could do a good job as a runner at 1, 9 or at a push 13. We just need a good tactical kicker at 6, which he is not. Its a problem that can be rectified at no extra cost to the cap or our quota spots, by bringing Gaskell back in. Hopefully Brown will do so and give Lance time to shine in another position that allows him to play to his strengths.

We keep trying to find hohaia a spot on the team, when really there isn't one. If he was anyone else am sure he'd be in the reserves.

IMO he's played fullback for NZ Warriors, he's played fullback for kiwis, so he's a fullback. If he ain't in at fullback he shouldn't be in the 17 as he's not good in any other postion.

Brent Webb is thinking over a offer from cas and Luke be joining up with shenton and gillmour there for 2013.

Saints have spoke to a super league winger about a possible deal for 2013.

I don't know how the talks went or any other detail but we have spoke to him.
