I'm sure some one posted a link to an NFL club that had issues with air flow. But it's quite possible that airflow is not the only or main reason for the corners being left open.But it's certainly not a cost issue either as 4 extra sets of panels in the long run is not that much.
At other stadia that is fully enclosed they have to leave the doors open to allow airflow on to the pitch on none match days. But this would require FT security staff, rather than just the current shop people.
There must be some reason even if it's a structural issue, that the structure given it's original design, needs some kind of, give in it, for the wind to get around.
But regardless
We don't see Wigan, Leeds, Warrington, Bradford, Huddersfield etc
Basically everyone but HULL FC, worrying about open sides.
It's unlikely to be airflow alone, but I don't think it's cost either.
