Luke Robinson made the comment last week in Interview that in the uk (as opposed to aus) young players -esp halves- are expected to come on as half back and take control of the team and be amazing- they aren't given time to develop like they are in aus where sometimes they don't make first grade until 23/24 years old. With a lack of a reserve grade over here that problem is further confounded.
Luke Gale is a prime example of a half who can make huge strides in their development past the age of 23/24. He was let go by Leeds and I think people saw him as pretty average at London and Bradford but at the right club playing under a good coach he's come on ten fold to the point were he's probably the best British halfback knocking about.
Plenty of Luke Gales will be lost from the game at 19/20 unless they're lucky enough to be picked up by another team.
