Wilkin isn't a ball handling scrum half. But he can do a job. The big question is whether Saints will return to their tactic of kicking early which paid big dividends early this year and at the back end of last. This is where Wilkin proved really strong.
Didn't see the Salford game but they definitely returned to this tactic at Newcastle v Warrington. Wilkin kicked early in the first 2/3 sets before Roby went off and we lost our way. Even second half getting back into it, we kicked early. Expect to see this a lot.
Wigan is all about defending the edges. If your outside three make the right decisions, Wigan become a side that can only hurt you on attacking kicks on the last. If that happens, I'd expect Saints to murder them up the middle and grind it out. If we don't defend well enough though, it could be a cakewalk should they get a couple of scores up early.
At the end of the day, put Walsh and the back rowers in this side and we beat Wigan pretty much every time. Put a performance in, give our all and whatever happens, we'll see you in Sept/Oct. Good luck to you.
