If you remember the Smith - Holdsworth - Patten attacking triangle they had, it was extremely effective. Phil Vievers gave all the credit for the attacking work to Long. It was a belting set up given Salford's other deficiencies at the time. It also re-launched Matty Smith's career.
That sort of thing is exactly what we need and given the step up in quality from Smith-Holdsworth-Patten to Walsh-Burns-Lomax, together with a better team around them, we could be looking at something very exciting.
Salford today is a bloody minefield. I don't think you can judge any individual on what's going on there, with all the disruption.
