He may have died, but he'll never be dead. He was an absolute inspiration to us all and judging by Twitter his reach went well, well beyond the sport. He'll leave a lasting legacy, not only in his charity work, but in his response to the disease. A magnificent man.

Devastating news, no words can describe Steve Prescott as a man. A true inspiration to many and he will be sadly missed.

I echo the thoughts of everyone really.

A real life superhero who inspired thousands and will be sadly missed.

His legacy will live on.

Terrible news, RIP Steve, there are no worlds to describe what you achieved and what your legend has become.
The RFL should name the MOS after him, as he was the embodiment of it.

Heard this earlier today, although i knew he had cancer and had been battling for years the news really shocked me, i had no idea he was so ill..RIP Steve, a true saint in every sense of the word, i also thought the applause during the proposed silence was very fitting and brought a tear to my eye..
