Because a players mentality is to always play your best and win the best you can. The clubs mentality should be same, go out and score as many points and try to nil the other team.

The Widnes game last week was a cup game and the team switched off after putting up a big score which nearky cost us.

Players should want to win the best they can at anything, if it's a sprint in training, cross country run, weights, they should want to be the best.

Winning is always a good idea in knock out games as we find out every season when we lose the Grand Final. I don't argue with the need to win. We should always want to win. The winning bit isn't the point. It never was.

We just don't need to rub their faces in it. I think we would risk doing that by putting out a full on first team of fulltime professional players. There's no need; no need.

With results today we are slowly creeping back into contention. Leeds and Hull are within striking distance now. They play each other after the CC game.

Then we have another CC weekend, so I don't think we need to run all our props continually and this week will be the best oppertunity to rest some. As after that some will be playing in the exiles match aswell. Where as the rest of the team will have a week off.

Injuries govern everything, but I would play.

Wellens (will get the exiles week off for a rest and is captain so should play)
Makinson
Wheeler (if fit, shenton should get the week off as will get picked for exiles training if not the final team)
Jones
Foster (Meli will be likely to get in the team given his scoring form and having played under anderson)

Perry (can't see him playing exiles)

I would probably rest Wellens, Shenton and Roby. Keep Lance and Lomax together to rehearse some game plans for future tougher games.
With 3 first choice forwards missing the pack more or less picks itself.

If Makinson is fit I would put him alongside Jones to see how that centre combination shapes up.
