I can throw a peanut in the air and there's a good chance it will drop on a "versatile" player. You don't play thirty games for NZ with a one-in-three try-scoring record (especially now when they are swamped with quality) simply because you are versatile. The NRL cuts dozens of utility players from its roster each season so it's nonsense to suggest you can wear the NZ Warriors shirt - with a one-in-three try-scoring record - for the best part of 200 games solely for your utility.
Hohaia has been a top performer in the NRL for years. Yes, there were a few issues in his final season, but the NZ fans I know seem to think much of that was down to a) injury and b) uncertainty over contract negotiations.
They also have one Kevin Sinfield, and we erm.... don't?
So two running halves can play together. That's settled.
