Yeah. All those kids coached themselves to the Grand Final.
I didn't say that. Their ability got us there.

Remember, some players didn't like Potter either and in fact, some people on here posted earnestly, they gave up following Potter's coaching and just took it upon themselves to play.
Saints fans are always the same. We play badly and out comes the 'my friend's friend's left buttock told me' stories, and all of them are reliable!
Read back through anything I've posted, it's usually very reliable indeed. It isn't a friends friends left buttock either. It's from one or two people straight to me.
Well that's stating the bleeding obvious! A team full of talentless players isn't going to get to the grand final is it?

Yes, I'm sure it is.
There are a few bosses I haven't thought much of either but I've still gone to work and done my best. Players will whinge and moan. Well, it's tough tittie. They should get their act together and defend for 80 minutes rather than try and blame their boss for their own inadequacies.

Obviously not. Place a bad coach in charge of the 13 best players in the world and they'll probably still win any comp. It works either way.

Don't believe me if you don't want to, I couldn't care less.

I haven't once said the reason we lost yesterday was down to Simmons, the players played badly in the second half and they know that. I've commented only on his policies as far, I have made no reference to any individual game.

Yes, but no matter how good the coach is, he will never get a team of talentless players to a grand final. So what you said about the talent of the young players getting us to the grand final is, in fact, stating the obvious. The talent of Tommy Makinson took us into the lead in the last grand final. Who kept playing him on the wing even though he had never played on the wing before? The coach. He spotted the talent, provided an opportunity for it to be utilised in the first team, nurtured it (along with the other coaching staff) and it paid off.

Cool.

No. You said that some players didn't like his coaching. You didn't actually mention policies. Just his coaching. But IMO that's tough. Their job is to work hard and win trophies.
In case you haven't noticed, I've lost all sympathy with our players, well certain players anyway, thanks to the last two games, both of which I have endured live and will never again get back those hours.

I'd love to right something on here but just can't.
Maybe most of the team, old and YOUNG don't agree with things out coach does. Maybe the players like Royce but don't think he's good enough. Maybe most players would like a "proper" coach .

Maybe. Or maybe you are just spreading the gossip of your buddy in the team, who is performing poorly at present.
Leave it out Pete. You're just stirring.

Makinson is nothing to do with Simmons. He was developed by Ian Rush and his great academy team. Makinson wouldn't have been playing if Gardner hadn't got a bad injury.

Sorry, I made reference to his policies on another thread. Thought it was this one.
However, another coach is easy to come by. Without the players the club has nothing, they are the main components to the club, not the coach. Coaches are generally expandable, apart from a few exceptional ones of course.

That Makinson is in the first team is exactly down to Simmons. The head coach of the first team chooses who plays. And most junior players get their debuts due to injury. I know full well that Makinson was developed by the coaching staff - to first team level. After that he will have been the responsibility of Simmons and the assistant coach. Dixon, Foster, etc likewise.
