Well 15,000 sold and I heard 16,000 in the middle of last week are well above the actual figure,
No they aren't! We sold 15,537! How is that 'well above' 15,000? And more fool you for listening to Internet speculation. Nobody ever claimed 16,000 had been sold. Nobody with the authority to claim that did so anyway.
It's not making it up SaintsFan it is just a constructive comment, rather the kids in the playground arguing who may have got a bigger attendance than the other for this and that game! LOL!
We achieved the biggest attendance in Round 2. That is something for us to celebrate because it happened at the official opening of our new stadium, doesn't happen very often, and it would never have come close to happening against Salford had we still been at Knowsley Road. I think the figure on Friday night was around double what we usually get for a Salford match.

I just wish people would stop moaning, I mean it's obvious our average attendance is going to be a lot better than KR and obviously last year and Fridays attendance was a good crowd I thought, which was the biggest of the round. But I'm sure some Wigan fans will tell us that there were more Wigan fans at the DW on Sat that they forgot to count because the card/ticket machines weren't working for 40 minutes and the actual attendance at the DW stadium yes thats the DAVE WHELAN stadium was actually 9.6 trillion. We should just be happy that our average is going to increase along with revenue also we own our own stadium and there isn't a St Helens Athletic with more fans than us who we have to rent a stadium off.
Lets face it (and this isn't a moan) the crowd was very poor for an opening night. The opposition didn't help, would have been easier to sell if it were against a team that had supporters of it's own, but I understand the want to win at the first game and I think judging by our performances so far, we'd have struggled with the big teams.
It will be interesting to see how the crowds hold up there. Season ticket sales are very impressive, but will only generate a slight increase on KR if we don't build on it. If the 5,000 walk up was because it's opening night, I think we're looking at 11,000 for the 'normal' games, ie everyone bar Warrington and Wigan.
It's so hard to build a buzz about a team and a sport in the depths of winter like that. When it's dark, cold/raining it makes it feel like you are suffering to go and watch rather than benefitting from it. Fine for us already committed to the cause, but I'll bet there won't be many new fans going back if their first experience of Langtree and RL in general was a dour ground out victory against Salford in freezing conditions.
It really annoys me how we move to Summer rugby and the sport/club decided on Friday nights. Friday nights are great in the middle of summer when it's light and sunny and you can have a beer after work etc, but when it's dark, -2 and you've got kids it's horrible. My kids are both primary school age and when you are that age when it's dark, you naturally feel tired, especially on a Friday.
What the sport needs to do is cut the games down. Play 10 home league games and play only in the April to September region. Leave October for internationals and cut the play offs down to just the good teams (I.e top 6).

I think we are looking at sell outs for Wire & Wigan, 14k for Leeds/Widnes, 13k for the Hulls possibly Hudds, 12k for the rest which should iron out to around 14k, but Im hoping we can average around 14,500-15k, that would be a great achievment!
Well 15,000 sold and I heard 16,000 in the middle of last week are well above the actual figure, I just wonder if stating these figures puts people off walking up on the day, a friend of mine from Windle attempted to get a standing ticket over two weeks before the game and was told at the ground ticket office they were all sold out!

Link please stating we sold 16,000?
Also Link please stating how on gods green earth 15,000 is well above the actual figure of 15,300?
If you can't do simple maths, ie x number is bigger than y, then everything else needs to be called into question!
my bit of advice for starting topics on RLFANS. 1.) dont talk about attendances.... Wigan are second only to NASCAR in Attendance numbers. (I was going to say bumbs on seats but thats a different story) 2.) dont talk about flags. Only the Chinese Army and an Olympic games opening ceremony have more flags than the frigantes. 3.) dont talk about fullbacks unless you want to start explaining why Billy Slater is better than Sam Tomkins. 4.) dont talk about owning your own stadium. It's been Made Quite clear by the cherry boys that renting is always better than owning. 4.) and dont talk about history it doesnt exist for any club other than Shaun Wanes boys from the Wigan Way.
stick by them and you'll be able to talk without half wit intrusion no problem.

Yes I am going to keep copies of every media link I read of ticket sales and I read several, just in case you ask me to givelinks! I know what I read and when I visited friends in Windle last Tuesday and as I stated, which you did not by the way comment on, two weeks earlier trying to get one standing ticket they were informed they were sold out and I informed him then it was heading for a sell out.
The 15,000 comment should have read 15,000 plus, so hands held up, apologies! but it does not excuse how picky some are getting and the raising of stupid comments about simple maths, this is a forum, I was not submitting a University dissertation on attendance figures! People who get so touchy about a comment are the ones who look the joke! But if it makes you happy?? LOL!
Note I added it was a superb attendance figure though time will tell as others have said what attendances settle down to.

I think this bit may be before Saints were allocated the East Stand. The West Stand was in fact sold out a couple of weeks ago and at the time was the only standing available to Saints supporters, this is probably why your friend couldn't get a ticket. Saints fans were than allocated the East stand at a later date as it was apparent Salford would only bring around 200 fans.
I think EVERY game this weekend will have been afected by the weather, my 86 yr old auntie and her neighbours (season ticket holders) wisely decided to stay at home, many others will have done the same
