I'd be more inclined to have Makinson at fullback because he was good there on the one occasion he played - was it against Wigan at the DW? I can't remember. However, Eastmond is awful on the wing. So either Eastmond to fullback Lomax at 7 or Lomax to fullback and Eastmond at 7. I would imagine it will be the former simply because we need our halfback combination to be settled. I can't remember, though, whether Eastmond (or Lomax come to think of it) are any good under the high ball. We might have to rely upon Foster and Makinson in that respect. Foster used to be great under the high ball but he's been a bit hit and miss this season.
Although there has been no official word on Wello's absence, so at this stage it's rumour, it wouldn't surprise me if he is missing. Something hasn't been right with him for the last three weeks. I know at one point he was playing with a deadleg so maybe that hasn't fixed itself. Or maybe it's just a question of his form plummeting.
We need to give Lomax more game time at fullback, as ultimately thats were IMO he is likely to play in the future.
Earlier in the season at Salford he played there, with Eastmond playing in the halves alongside Gaskell.
I see Makinson as a future strike centre not fullback, because while he has pace he lacks the creative nouse that the modern fullback needs.
Remember fullbacks these days are like a third halfback. Its essential that not only are they fast, but that they can act as a linking pivot if necessary eg Brett Hodgson and Sam Tomkins.
