I was just thinking that last night when I first realised Perry was absent yet again. Jammer's endurance is one of the qualities we are seriously going to miss. We simply cannot avoid training up/buying in more props/second rowers of the big variety in order to compensate for potential injury losses.

i dont go to the games and could pass perry in the street and not recognise him. he s been unlucky with injuries/fitness but that s not saints fault and i seriously think its time both sides agreed to mutually terminate his contract and get someone else in?????

Same goes for Gary Wheeler as well then I presume? What about Clough? He's been out far too long to keep on.

Do people think he intentionally gets injured? He's had a bad run, just like Sia did in hist first year and things haven't turned out too badly there. When Perry came on against Wire it was no coincidence that we came roaring back into it witht eh aggression him and Moore showed.

Clough was our only ever present during last season's injury crisis and he has only been injured once this season. Gary Wheeler has regularly been the subject of, er, banter on here due to his injury record although even by the most cynical poster's standard, experiencing a dislocated shoulder thanks to a late and needless charge by Hoffman must be understandable. A lot of players would have been injured as a result of that charge. Perry, though, was touted as a player who had suffered hardly any injuries in the NRL and was going to rip it up over here. It's natural that fans are questioning his ability to keep fit after having so many periods out injured.

I'm sure you know I was being ironic with the calls on Wheeler and Clough to highlight how ridiculous it is to say that we should get rid of Perry. If, as you say, Perry suffered hardly any injuries over there and comes here and gets injured all of the time then what's the answer? Who's at fault? Are we suggesting he's not putting enough work in and getting injured as a result? I don't buy that. Every player goes through a time when they get injrued alot and perry is having his now. It's not like we as a club have a glittering record of keeping players fit is it?

If we released Perry, Wire would pick him up in a heartbeat and with their far superior conditioning team i'd be amazed if he missed a game for them all next season

Whilst tempted to 'jump on the bandwagon' and say release him, like others wanting an immediate fix, didn't Soliola miss nearly a full season for us? Now look at the lad. Full of enthusiasum, and not playing too badly either.
I think Perryy is just as frustrated as we are.

If he's happy at being here then why should we get shut?

Injuries are part of the game. It's not his fault he's picking up injuries, it's just how it goes.

Does this count for all players? If so, we should be getting shut of ade, lomax, Gaskell, Sia, wheeler, clough, Pryce and so on.....

A little off topic, where has magennis been?

Fans SHOULD question the ability of ANY veteran signing to stay fit. The fact that he's had hardly any injuries before coming to Saints shouldn't come as that much of a surprise or be any kind of indicator that he'll stay fit for much of his time. After all, you pick up the majority of your knocks (and take longer to get over them) at the back end of your career.

As SL clubs are forced by inflationary pressures down under to rely more and more on 30-yos (rather than peak athletic talent such as Richards, Lyon, Sia etc.) we'll see far more so-called "Big Name" signings breaking down embarrassingly - like Clyde and Mullins did for Leeds. To the point where entire seasons will be wrecked insofar as silverware is concerned on the strength of one or two unlucky recruitment decisions.

Which is why we should - as much as possible - not bother and develop our own.
