I do worry that Saints can sometime put up the sold out signals a little early. I don't think it encourages it just tells people there is no point trying as all the best ones are gone.
Seems they might have put them up a little early. We seem pretty good at this though, usually announcing beating the previous record crowd etc.
I hate this attitude in super league though that away fans should make up the numbers. It just isn't the case. The home fans should be the ones filling the stadium. I hope we get to the point where we can't give the away team the full north stand.
When Saints move into the new stadium the away end won't be full every week infact it will only be full twice a year but hopefully they can fill the rest of the stadium.
Often fans complain about the attendance accross super league and put away fans down as the reason for poor attendances, and then on other occasions when the away support is especially good they dress it up as a great crowd! Like when we played Quins in the first game in 2008, the crowd was 8k, quins were praised for the great crowd even though we took about 4-5k. I have picture evidence as well!
I would hope even without saints away support at our place for a derby game we could get 20k+
