Wane has to be given the chance. He has won everything at U18 and U20 level. When Maguire went home last year to be with his dying father Wane took over the head coaches job and Wigan won at Hull and Leeds (nilling Hull in that game).

I know a few players who have played under him at academy level and they all say that they would trust him with their lives. "As straight as an arrow" was how one player put it (now playing for another Superleague club).

If he fails he fails, but he at least deserves the chance.

Daniel Anderson still hadn't got a job. He must be the no 1 contender.

He will have learnt more under Maguire, and with the set of players they have, will certainly not make Wigan retreat.

Drive and enthusiasm will only get you so far. Ask Brian McDermott. He will probably get the job but he'll be under a lot of pressure when they don't start producing results.

Noooo. We don't want Daniel Anderson turning up at Wigoon! He'd do stuff like get them to finals! We want someone totally useless there, surely?

Who is totally useless and available to coach the Pies?

Question mark indeed. The fact is we don't know how he'll fair, just like we didn't with Madge. I said on the Wigan forum I'm happy with him being given the head honcho role, but I'd like to see someone such as John Lang or Rick Stuart come in. Not as an assistant but in more of an advisor, director of rugby type role.

I guess we'll just have to wait and see. Shaun may feel he's not ready for the role yet, allowing Lenegan to recruit a head coach from overseas. Either way the club have plenty of time to get things right, and to be fair Lenegan's been spot on with all the decisions he's made at Wigan so far. So I wouldn't bet against him getting this one correct as well.
