Carlos, if that's the team we have out at Wigan next week then we've had it!
That team could well be the future of Saints. To be fair Wigan are not at the pace they where in the GF last year and rightly so as no one wins in April. So not having our first choice out is not that much of a disaster.
If we look at what our first choice would have been before the season kicked off, we would have no Foster in the team, no Lomax or Gaskell or Wheeler. No Megenis, etc.
Just because players are not first choice at the start of the year, does not mean they cannot displace bigger names during the season. I'd rather pick a form player than a name. Coaches can be risk averse and just pick names, that gives some security and certainty of play but also prevents change and new ideas coming through.
If we had not had injuries or the Eastmond Saga, would we ever have given Lomax the run he has had at halfback?
Or Wheeler a run at centre, unless they get the oppertunity they cannot prove how much of a challenge they can stand up to.
I think when Cunningham got his place he was not a first choice hooker, he was well down the pecking order, but he showed his worth and we stuck with him the rest is history.
