I agree, Tommy is one of the most, if not the most naturally gifted rl player Ive ever seen too.
I remember when I heard he wasnt getting another contract, although he was always out with injuries, and was probably the right decision, I was absolutely gutted.
Was that when we signed Leon??
Didn't you sign that other dirty git first? Jason Hooper?
I'll tell you the one part of Tommy's game that I liked, (for liked read "hated" because it was usually against us, but since I am capable of appreciating genuine quality I can look back and say I did actually like the skill on display) and that was his "arrangement" with Sullivan out on the wing.
How many tries came from Martyn offloading with the backhand as he was going down in the tackle, straight into the arms of Sullivan, who pretty much just had to fall over the line to score?
Sometimes it didn't work, Sullivan would stand just too close to the touch line and put himself out of play, touch the corner flag or something, but very often it came off, and often made the difference in the match.
Mugwump's right, I'm sure opposition fans all felt the same. We weren't worried about Sculthorpe or Cunningham, Joynt or Long, but bottoms would clench if Tommy had the ball.
