it also works in football as the higher up the table you are the more sky $$$$$ you get, an idea i think we should look into.

They already do as I alluded to on page one. I'm still trying to find a link as to how the money is shared out.

I apologise if i'm wrong i was under the impression it is shared out equally. If it is staggered, then all clubs have something to play for all year.

I was under that impression too and was told by a fairly reliable source. Although I can find no further evidence either way.

Agree entirely. Spot on from McManus in terms of his feelings...
Agree with Rogues in terms of a credible format.
Top 8 is another example of RL being used to promote a daft gimmick.

Don't worry no doubt it will all change again next year. The whole league will be in the play offs. Bottom club will have a bye to the final or something to make sure everyone is in with a chance of being champions no matter how sh 1te they are.

8 seems top heavy with 14 teams but the new system takes away the underdone excuse for the final.

BUT The devil is in the detail

"the reduced play-off system could be complemented two weeks later by the first, second and third teams in Super League playing their NRL counterparts on a single day expanded World Club Challenge to determine their rankings."

I dont disagree with his analysis that we need to expand the WCC. There is a massive opportunity for league to have a show piece World event.

His suggestion though is simply a glorified magic weekend.

There have been many suggestions but perhaps we need to look at the wcc as a 2 year tournement played in alternate hemispheres.
