Sounds like a rerun of the Cunningham / Radlinski supplements that came to pass a few years ago.

Don't think it is the way forward. Clubs that are financially weak getting held to ransom because of the perceived threat of the
RU Bogey man.

Better to let the odd starlet go and reinvest in youth development and give the next starlet a chance.

Pain in the short term but eventually supply will overcome shortages.

An extra £150K topup could fund the transition of 4 or 5 raw talents instead of salary trapping one player who is one tackle away from
a shoulder or knee reconstruction. Lose 1 or 2 of these talents to RU so what, bring on the next.
An Eastmond goes then bring on the next Gaskell.

Once you make a special case then you just stoke wage inflation down the chain until even your fringe players are demanding double their take home.

I think with Manu, his exploits at the world cup won't have done him any favours with England RU selectors, especially now it looks like they are sweeping the decks. I suspect Manu could be one of the casualties of that clear out if they are looking for a couple of scape goats, at least that's what I'd be saying to him if I was Saints! Lol.

The people on the Total RL forums say that 'discussions are at an advanced staged for 2013. So it's not like they are claiming we're signing him this year. They reckon he's been earmarked to replace Meli.

I bloody hope not. We have backs of our own. I will be deeply, deeply disappointed if the club went in that direction. We don't need failed RU players. We can bring on our own players.

I just can't see Tuilagi coming across, fair enough he might have severed his ties with England (for the time being), but there is still a new coach coming in and he's a young player. Worst that will happen is he'll miss this years 6nations, but even so, the financial side of it will likely keep him at Leicester regardless.
