Its entirely the same situation, its not about putting pressure on a player to sign a new contract,its about the player in question letting the club know ASAP what his intentions are, if he wants to stay and sign a new contract then so be it, if the player tells the club that he intends to leave and go elsewhere, then the club can look at utilising that contract money on finding a suitable replacement, it cannot be left to go on and on because if the player then decides to leave you are left with cap space and no quality available to fill it with.

Pearson says it as it is - he is a Saints player, and as well as the Ellis signing, we have 5 or 6 more to announce. End of story really.

He is a good player, enjoy watching him play!

If beating Saints away and being above them with a game in hand defines making up the numbers, then I am realtively ok with that in Gentle's first season!

Great player, but a three year deal on a very high salary is a big risk.

At first really wanted him to stay but we have priorities in other positions IMO.
