Dave Hadfield has an article in today's i saying that Tommy may go to Souths but that he does have a year to go on his contract.
It appears to imply that the move would be around this off season rather than the end of 2012.

Not a signing rumour, but heard that we may be kicking off the 2012 season against you guys and to open your SL campaign at the new stadium.

Saints have spoke to the RFL and requested to play a big team to open the new stadium. I know who saints have asked to play but not sure if it's got the go ahead.

It wasn't Leeds we asked to play.

I was hoping that you would answer to that because you seem in the know regarding Saints. If its true and they ended up with Leeds, it will kick off a week earlier than everyone else.

It'd be nice to open the SL season, rather than just Saints' season, with a game at the new ground and Saints Leeds games are rarely dull.

Also, should the worst happen and we slip to a loss, Leeds fans would be unlikely to spend the next 10 years featuring some reference to it in their sigs unlike a couple of more local teams...

If the RFL agree to saints request then IMO it will be much worse than losing to Leeds if we lose to that team

I figured they'd want one of two teams, both of whom would treat a victory at Saints new ground on opening day as tantamount to sleeping with your wife, mum and sister in the same night.
