Foster is an interesting dilemma for the club, if anyone is seriously sniffing around with good money, then whose to say what will happen. He is our best kicker, but Lomax can also kick pretty decent and with practice will get better. So is that as big a plus for foster as we think it is.
Foster is under contract till 2012, so there is adequate time for the board to get someone else, and there are wingers like Makinson, Brotherton in our own squad that could be brought in.
I'm not suggesting Foster should go or that he has not earned his place, but is his barganing hand as strong as say Lomax or Gaskell, we have offloaded alot of our younger halfbacks, ellis, eastmond and smith. With Pryce unknown, Gaskell and Lomax struck whilst the iron was hot.
Wingers tend to be add on's that are nice if you have a good one but you can survive with average. We have won SL with players who never really would be classed in the same quality as darren albert.
Arnold, Dwayne West, Hayes, smith etc.
With a salary cap you have to put your money in key positions and Wing well, it's not as key as 6/7/9/ and then 1/8/10/ 13 would be next for me, with 3&4 then 11/12, 2 and 3 just don't command the wages they used to pre salary cap , where a fast winger was a glamours role and could demand big bucks. Now it's a bonus.
