Wigan have always been very professional in covering there tracks and finding loop holes in the rules. I seem to remember they use to de register players to get other players in.
There was also an alleged incident when Fielden signed that he wasn,t allowed to play on his first weekend because of the salary cap and 1 or 2 squad players had to be loaned out to cover this. The loaned out players papers should have been lodged with the RFL to clear this scenario.
The paperwork arrived too late but Fielden still PLAYED, so in reality they were allowed a short term breach of the salary cap.
Also remember one of Saints breaches of the Salary Cap was due to Roby selected into the international side, his selection kicked off a £5000!! players contract payment. The RFL wouldn't accept it and the club was fined roughly the same amount. I,d be pretty confident if it were Wigan they would have got a dispensation.
