Re: Mose : Thu Nov 06, 2014 11:46 am
So was feka a unbelievable player for the goons considering his meters he made blow Mose out the water ?

Everyone calls feka but surely his meters gained must have had big impact on Wigan would they not ?

As another poster stated, there aren't stats for momentum changes and impact. The stats DO prove however that he makes good yards every time he has the ball.

Would you rather he made 5 carries at 10m per carry that all lead to try-scoring opportunities or set up attacks, or 10 carries in our own half at 6m a carry?

It seems that 99% of Saints fans noticed the positive influence he had on various games. Are you sure he hasn't touched you up?

If he even thought about touching me up is put the pudding flat on his bum.

Masoe clearly has his limitations, and I, like St Pete, would like to see him playing longer minutes and doing more of the dirty work (he did all of this at Penrith, incidentally, so I think there's reason to believe we might see him do a bit more graft if he gets properly fit over the off-season).

But I also think people are right to say that he does good stuff that doesn't show up in the stats. In the Samoa v England game his stats were modest, but he had a decisive impact on the momentum of the game, deliberately targetting England's biggest forward and putting him on his backside a couple of times, and coming up with a key offload that led to a try. Samoa visibly lifted when he was on.

I think that's what sets him apart from someone like Feka.

Being serious and going back to what got this debate going. I said I'm happy for him to go if we replace him and that I'm happy to keep him if we get another prop in to help Amor out (funny enough Amor never had so many injuries).

Do you lot think he runs his size? He's 18+ stone, he's 6ft 5in and let's be honest now he's fit he's pretty athletic and no slow coach. Should he be making more meters?

Last year we was all banging on how we can't get out our 20m zone or our own half and most on here pretty much agree Mose doesn't do the hard yards but a guy that big should be taking the ball up when we are under the pump, getting smashed and making no meters. Isn't that his job as well?

We've got tommy, swifty, Amor getting smashed and us wining no field position because we not making meters. That then puts pressure on the kicker who has to kick a ball out of his 20m which is not easy.

Look at the huds game when we had 12 men. We couldn't even put Mose on because of his work rate so we basically played with 2 men down.

I know some props prefer the fancy stuff at the other end of the field but when it's back to wall and we are under the pump he has to help.

It's not just the mins he plays tbh it's the fact he doesn't do the tough stuff. We've got two wingers and Amor doing the hard yards while he stands and watches and that isn't acceptable IMO.

Regarding feka v Mose. If feka makes more meters than Mose and you state that Mose runs make the meters that provide for foundation for a score but surely if feka makes more meters he also does that

I didn't mention his metres (although his big carries do get the team rocking - it's a shame he does so few of them) - I was thinking more about the big collisions he brings which, I think, raise the intensity of the crowd and the players around him. I don't want to do down Feka - with the ball he was a real handful and did pick up plenty of metres. I just don't think he was quite the physical presence that Mose is, particularly in defence.

Would agree that a guy that stands at 6ft 5in, weighs in at 18st + and is athletic should be making more runs which obviously equities to more meters?

If we hadn't finished top and won the grand final I doubt people would be so generous to the guy that basically had some woeful games and some of his stats have been shocking.

The new young dynasty of super saints is coming to a ground near you.
Welsby-Dodd-Simms-Eaves-Rizzelli, not Eastmond...the future is coming.

You can bring that sample argument into other saints players who don,t make metres in Wilkin and Jones for instance.

I don't know why you have brought our wingers into the Mose debate when we have been doing the "winger taking the ball up tactic" for many seasons before Mose came onto the scene.
