Really disappointing performance from us today, in a game where we had the opportunities win. You couldn't fault any of them for effort, but you simply can't afford to make basic errors like we did today, and the amount of penalties we conceded was ridiculous. As I say, the lads worked hard, and gave it there all, but we lacked the composure in those key moments, and that is what cost us in the end.
There were a couple of occasions where we broke the line, but tried to force the play rather than taking the tackle and looking to build on the next play. You could take that for inexperience, and in some cases it was, but we are talking about senior players making basic errors they really shouldn't be making. It's not easy when you lose a player so early on, but we did have the opportunities to win, and with that bit of composure, we would have done. You simply can't concede so many penalties and expect to win a game, and our discipline simply wasn't good enough.
I thought Swift, Meli and Percival were sensational today, and Sia was his usual self, but the half back situation really is a problem. Paul Wellens is a club legend, and sweats blood for us every time he pulls on a shirt, but he simply isn't a stand-off, and he is seriously limiting our options in an attacking sense. Dobson and Craig Hall on the other hand are natural halves who complement each other well, and that was the difference today. They took there opportunities and were composed in attack, where as we weren't, and made made errors errors at times where we should be positing points.
