I don't understand this concept can anyone explain ?

I think this time around it's all experimental, just to see if the idea has got legs. There is no competition, except between the two GF winners as per usual. However, if it is seen as potentially working I think the plan is to have a three way comp of some sort in the future but that would take a buy in from the Australian clubs regardless of who they are as at the moment we have to qualify (and pay about £185,000 to the Aussie club we play) but the Aussie clubs don't. It's just down to which Aussie clubs are willing to come over (except for the GF winner).

I'm looking forward to hearing more details but as mentioned it just looks like the WCC as usual with a couple of added friendlies which is disappointing.

We can be bold enough to make a stand and do battle for our views and beliefs. But we must strive to be mature enough not to resort to unnecessary personal attacks upon people with opposing views.

So would not pay to watch the Saints take on the Broncos????

I think alot of people would. They may even draw in a few Wire/Wigan supporters to cheer on the Broncos.

Very easy to poo poo an event, but it's progress on the last few years.

Not sure where Saints Fan has got her figures from? But assuming there is something in that. Then it will take approximately a crowd of 9000 to cover that cost. Then anything above that would be towards the host club. I could see us easily getting 14000 if not a full house.

I am wary about the idea that this is some form of trial format to assess the potential efficacy of an expanded competition.

For me the 'World Series' as it's called will suffer from the fact that the first two games are seen as glorified friendlies. Teams are essentially playing for Super League, not themselves - it is being marketed as Super League vs NRL. But there is no trophy for the clubs to compete for in the extra two games. As a result, I have my doubts as to whether enough fans will turn up to convince the administrators to create a expanded competition in the future.

I like the idea of more games but everyone involved has to be in with a chance of winning the trophy for it to have legs in my opinion.

People turn up to watch Wrestling. If it's marketed well people will turn up.

People turn up week in week out yet the players and coaches publicly state the weekly rounds mean nothing.

Imagine how many would turn up week in and week out if the players and coaches tried to sell the league and the game rather than undermine it.

Players want more money, therefore they need to buy in to gain exposure.

Eastmond left Saints as the money was the same but the exposure was greater.

10's of thousands go to watch the barbarians play for no cups.

How many turned up to watch the 3rd place playoff in the World Cup.

People will come if it is sold the right way

It does seem like a lot of fuss to have an two NRL sides over just to play in friendlies with no cudos on offer. But I'll go, just for the chance to witness the carnage that will ensue if the NRL sides take it seriously.

Good to see that RL fans are embracing this concept.

Plenty of sports play games with no hope of a trophy. Lots of exhibition matches such as the NFL at Wembley on the first outing had no cup to play for but drew in the crowds
