We can be bold enough to make a stand and do battle for our views and beliefs. But we must strive to be mature enough not to resort to unnecessary personal attacks upon people with opposing views.

Re: From a Leeds supporter : Sun Apr 13, 2014 4:05 pm
I gave a reasoned logical explanation for why it was a try even if you thought the tip of the ball was in touch, due to the shape of the ball and was told to let supporters vent.

So some people know, but just want to argue the opposite anyway.

We will, of course, see no postings from you when contentious decisions go against Saints.

We don't get contentious decisions..... Well we do, but we don't bleat about it as loudly as Yorkshire folks.

We've ridden our luck of late, but hopefully these last 3 games will help instill the sort of sort of never say die attitude that we had in the (better) Millward years and the belief that we can still pull a victory out of the bag in the most difficult of circumstances.

Indeed. We have been lucky in the last few weeks, but the truth is that dodgy decisions go for and against you in any given game. The fact that we've been managing to cling on in close games right to the end means that questionable decisions that have gone in our favour have turned out to be pivotal. Obviously we'll need to get back on our game as those big calls won't continue to go our way every week.

Despite us not looking at our best of late, we do seem to have a new found determination in the squad. I think when we turned the corner last year it was in a game against Leeds and I remember Rod Studd or similar saying that both before and after the match you could hear the lads belting out Oh When The Saints..... Its interesting to see that still going on now alongside the recent wins (they showed us un the changes after either the Hudds or Leeds game).

Hopefully we've now got a squad that is not only talented, but confident in their ability, determined and focussed on victory, closely knit so that they'd fight for each other and mentally robust enough to go into good Friday well enough wound to blitz Wigan beyond even their extra derby gear.

Wigan love the derby and the fact we're sitting top of the pile will only serve as extra motivation. Its a massive test for us.

Indeed.

I also see this game as crucial to the cup game next weekend - a win maintains that confidence that we can beat anyone, a loss makes some of those scraped wins in recent weeks seem that little bit luckier . . . .

This sentellins teams really is a joy to watch so far this season. We thought we had a decent backline at leeds, but then you see Josh Jones wreaking havoc down the left side and tommy makinson sh*tting tries out of nowhere down the right, and it makes you re-think.

Makinson is the best finisher in the league, by some distance, with walsh the best halfback.

Saints have a great record at headingly so the cup game should be a doozy.

I was thinking the same myself, the ball is fatter in the middle so if you plonk it down horizontally then the middle bit hits the grass first. Anyway it only needs to hit a green blade of grass before it hits a white one to be a try.
