Wellens should have retired when Scott Donald walked past him, laughing at him, on the way to winning the GF for Leeds. After that, you could see Wello's frustration with his own ability to get to situations he would have previously resolved. It's where the Big Bird impressions began and the ranting at referees.

The club has a long history of full backs finishing there careers in the pack, Frank Barrow, Kel Coslett, Phil Veivers and others, no one ever complained then, maybe the over reaction is self damning.

I'm not convinced he is earning a place in the pack, particularly with all the back rowers we have available. Do we really need to have Flanagan kicking his heels at Rochdale? Wello has been a great clubman but he's never going to be a Kel Coslett, he is playing there because there is no other place for him

I think the only reason Wellens is picked over Flanagan is perhaps for his leadership and experience qualities, do we think there will be a dramatic change in pack performance if Flanagan played I,m not sure. wellens make 30 tackles last week and was again error free, this is his last season and its Browny's call and moaning about it isn,t going to change it so we just go with the flow.

He has no experience of playing in the pack though. He's also not a leader on the field. He's picked, as we've been through several hundred times out of sentimentality alone. I'd be very surprised if it was even Brown's decision to play him, he offers nothing.

Again, one of only 4 players to actually win a grand final in our squad - like it or not that experience counts for a lot. Equally, your dismissal of him being a leader is rather mute, given people who play and work with him say he's a great leader, and are probably going to know more on the matter than you. Or are you privvy to everything said on a rugby pitch?

We've all heard you theory of "it's not browns decision to play him" - it ranks up there with the moon landing conspiracy.
