Re: Catalans Stats : Sun Mar 16, 2014 12:02 pm
Of interest to me is the speed or lack of in the games, These are the combined stats for both sidesThe Catalan game had 344 carries 584 tackles
Hull KR game 318 carries 554 tackles
Salford game 422 carries 653 tackles
Hull game 402 carries 590 tackles
no stats available for Warrington match
I compared them to a couple of NRL games
Warriors v st.george 355 carries 628 tackles
manly v souths 347 carries 561 tackles
Brisbane v north queensland 352 carries 689 tackles
penrith v Newcastle 354 carries 675 tackles
The thing that jumps out at you with the NRL is how similar from match to match the number of carries is in a game.
You can also see that for the number of carries made the aussies are putting in a lot more defensive effort as seen in their high tackling stat figures.
SL has some games that are fast and open and other games that are a lot slower. The NRL doesn't appear to have this variation. Instead every match is pretty much a slowed down attritional grind.
