We can be bold enough to make a stand and do battle for our views and beliefs. But we must strive to be mature enough not to resort to unnecessary personal attacks upon people with opposing views.

Re: Nathan Brown post match interview : Sat Mar 09, 2013 12:54 pm
I've had very little issue with Brown and his current experimentation. I still think Gaskell needed more time to get up to speed, but I also said that Wheeler deserved to keep his place after stepping up for the Bradford game.

The 2 may seam contradictory but I think you can hold both views.

Re: Nathan Brown post match interview : Sat Mar 09, 2013 1:22 pm
The Brown appointment was a big call for Saints as whoever was the new coach had to start again and rebuild from what Potter and Royce had begun to start.

Given that, I think he's already showing why he's been a good appointment: he's made a few big selection calls and they all seem to have paid off.

Lomax at FB - was forced into I suppose, but he still had to move him from #7.

Wilkin moved into #7 when he could have easily stuck with Lomax

Percival was a massive call last week against the Champions and he was arguably our best player.

Walker and Greenwood have been tried and their selections paid off last night as defensively they were good.

Hohaia being picked over Gaskell for last night was a massive call and that also seemed to pay off, he was good.

Would Royce/Rush etc done the above? Hard to say but I doubt they would be willing to test the whole squad like Brown is doing at the minute.

The big test comes at the end of this year as we will basically need a new front row. We will see whether he can spot a player or not.

I think you've forgotten who it was who first played Gaskell and Lomax in the halves when things had gone to pot with Eastmond. If he'd been given the chance to work out what his best team was - and people on here were so criticial of him as he attempted to do that, unlike towards Brown who has been doing the same thing at the same time of the season - then who knows what team might have emerged? Simmons had to deal with a team adapting firstly to the loss of Cunningham and then to the loss of Graham. Brown has it relatively easy.

Rush didn't make any changes at all. In retrospect I'd say his remit was to make no changes.

The new young dynasty of super saints is coming to a ground near you.
Welsby-Dodd-Simms-Eaves-Rizzelli, not Eastmond...the future is coming.

To be beaten is a setback - to give up is terminal

Re: Nathan Brown post match interview : Sat Mar 09, 2013 5:30 pm
I truly can't believe how everyone is considering Wilkin at scrum half a stroke of genius, I just dont get it. He even got MoM which was a farce.

He has no tactical brain, no kicking game (not a real one anyway) and is usually a penalty waiting to happen. Have you all lost your senses. All I now need is for Saddo to agree with you all and I'll top myself. I dont care who we may or may not have to play 7 but it cant be Wilkin.

Unfortunately some have been so consistently vociferous in their criticism of Wilkin, they seem unable to give him any credit at all when it's deserved.

Same goes for Meli.

Ok he had a fair game, but hes a step away from a disaster as well, thought he was floundering as a scrum half but generally had a fair game. Think how good we'd be with a proper scrum half

I didn't think he was MOM, but he went alright and he seems to be the best option we've got.
It wouldn't stop us biting another clubs hand of for a decent 7 if one became available.

Post Match Interview.......Wilkin himself said he wasn,t MOM he put that down to pack and the defence. We are not going to get a No 7 this season so we have to accept Browns experimentation.
Myself, I,m not getting carried away with the win at Wire, we still need consistency of effort to gain team confidence. The one positive from Wilkin was his statement that the team played for 80 mins, something thats never happened this season..........same again please for next Friday.
