Not seen much of Swift, but the little I have seen has been pretty decent. He more or less carved that try out on his own yesterday by running at defenders.
However without seeing the rest of the game it is impossible to tell, whether later on Hull got his number.
But a +ve start is always to be welcomed. I think in terms of replacing players in the brown era, the wingers I think brown will be more than happy to fill from the clubs ranks of youngsters. However it will take alot longer for the club to build a huge prop and so you can see brown going shopping for this type of player. Same for a half, we have 3 saints halves already and if they are not what brown wants then he will probably look elsewhere rather than to yet another Saints youth half.
I'd imagine Swifts future at Saints is either on the wing or competing with the likes of Tommy at FB. But we can't discount that he may just be a squad player or playing a bit part before trying his luck elsewhere.
I agree that in the past 2 good players over 3 years would have been good, but it is more likely that we will need to try out about 10 players over those 3 years to get the 2 players who prove to last the distance. Also we should not expect all of those 10 to be GB players. Some players can be decent performers and make up squad numbers and still add value without being the next sean long.
How many decent Saints academy players have played for Saints during the ' Golden Era' without becoming permanent fixtures like Roby, Wellens, Cunningham??
