Why was it being claimed it was a sell out virtually then for many days? did that put off the 17,000 that had been well predicted and claimed in the media?
Not debating that it is not a good attendance for Salford, but I think the publicity stunts of how big and how great need to stop now!

Correct, Who would have thought that Saints couldn't sell out their opening game at their new stadium or sell out their final game at their old stadium?
Wigan played their first match at the DW against Cas in 99 which was the first game at the new stadium and also the last game of the regular season, and with Cas bringing a healthy away following, Wigan managed a rather dismal 13,900 (and lost), not forgetting of course that Wigan are the bestest fans in the world who are famous continental, especially in countries such as Peru, Angola, Malta and the Faroe Islands.. Adding to this their first home game of the following season pulled in just 11,200 against Leeds. And yes they sold out their last game at Central park against St Helens, had we played Wigan we would of done the same. Get a grip you mong......
Dave Whelan the saviour of the Pies Fully marked up rentbook on display Who do you think you are candidates Saints have never won the 2nd division Title, so there!!

Nobody claimed that. The first claim was that over 14,000 tickets had been sold and the second was that around 15,000 had been sold. The Chairman stated in the press that he wanted a sell out but at no time was a sell out ever claimed or reported. You are, quite simply, making that up.

Well 15,000 sold and I heard 16,000 in the middle of last week are well above the actual figure, I just wonder if stating these figures puts people off walking up on the day, a friend of mine from Windle attempted to get a standing ticket over two weeks before the game and was told at the ground ticket office they were all sold out!
It's not making it up SaintsFan it is just a constructive comment, rather the kids in the playground arguing who may have got a bigger attendance than the other for this and that game! LOL!
to be honest with you, if the weather had been a bit warmer on Friday and Saturday evening, both Wigan and Saints would have got even better crowds. I can rarely remember being as cold at a game as i was on Friday night.
