Lomaskell have done a great job for us,but if we are going to win trophys we need genuine class, pace and experience. Hohaiha will bring all of that, whilst the younger players are given the opportunity to develop. I do think we still need another real class player (at least) if we are to get back to winning at OT. Either that or do as Wigan have done and drill a team of journeymen into a winning outfit.

Lomaskell are getting the experience the only way that experience can be got: by playing. They will both be so much better next season for the experience they have gained this season. We have seen flashes of their ability already. That is going to be inconsistent and undermined by lack of experience at this stage but from what I've seen of them both, they look promising. But as with any development, it will take time. Having been to all four of our failed Grand Final attempts, I'm not inclined to go again if or until I see a side who instead of surrendering or not turning up like on Friday, they see a chance to go top and go all out to achieve that. If Saints return to that kind of team then we will have a chance of trophies. Until then, we won't. Regardless of who is in the halves.

In my opinion Gaskell is still another season off to get a settled position in the halves. Lance is ideal for his experience, i should imagine occaisonally when team selection is dictated by injuries Lance will drop to full back and allow Gaskell some structured experience back in the halves. Gary Wheeler can give us plenty of attacking options, just wish his luck with injuries will dissappear.
I don't think 2 captains is working either also we don't seem to have a natural level headed team leader like we had with Joynt, Sculthorpe and Cunningham. For me I would give the captaincy to ROBY next season.
For a couple of seasons we use to be a Jeckyll and Hyde team, I think this has returned as far as attitude is concerned, this is something Royce needs to work out.

Yup, he's the one to get the players head right for the game. Of course you would think players could do it on their own for finals and the wigan derby. But it seams not. The wheel has turned against Wigan, we just need to start making it turn a little faster now until it's in our favour again.

I don't know why people are going for Roby as captain. He doesn't have the impact on the team that Cunningham had. We miss Cunningham's ability to settle the side down and take control. Roby hasn't had any impact at all in this respect. Possibly the only person who could is Wilkin but I don't know even then. I do agree though that we don't have a natural leader on the pitch anymore. We don't really have any thinkers at present either (I'd say Pryce and Wheeler were but they aren't on the pitch!).

I agree. Our attitude is a major hindrance just now.

Wilkin is our captain, whether it's official or not he's our main man.

Laffranchi could be made captain next term. He is seem as a natural leader for his club and already lined up to return on a coaching capacity. Give him the armband.

If the rumours about griffin are true, that would (with a fit Perry) add much needed weight to the pack and bench which we needed on Friday
