Fairly typical of the RFL to latch on to an idea and then totally mess up the application of it. I think the Exiles match is a great idea but it should have been properly planned, with no league matches on the same weekend. And it should be held at a proper stadium rather than Headingley.

In League Weekly this week there was reference made to concern about the level of attendance at the match. I don't know what the RFL expected, really, with a full round of Superleague games also taking place. Fans are going to prioritise those, both financially and logistically. And who really wants to spend yet another Friday evening at the dump that is Headingley? Especially if you get stuck in the away end.

If the match serves its purpose then even though I am a real fan of the Magic weekend, that should be dropped and a free weekend created for the Exiles game with an international between Wales and France as a warm up game.

Why not make a day of it and have the Knights v Ireland too.

Without getting into the whole MM debate again, surely they should started the season a week earlier or moved a whole round of fixtures to midweek.

Perhaps the midweek option was not agreeable with Sky but anyway it is totally farcical.

What is the point of having this fixture on the Friday, when the majority of the players will have their eyes on Sunday.

In addition players are risking hamstring injuries etc playing two games in a weekend.

There are loads of fans that really enjoy their trip to MM and it is a great chance to mix with fans of the other teams. There is plenty of time for this game. Just start the season a week earlier for goodness sake. It is not rocket science !

Any news on clough??

If we get clough back we may be able to run with LMS and Clough, plus some of the younger forwards. This fixture is a joke, the NRL can play origin mid-week, why do we have to stuff it up. Even the Easter fixture list is not this crowded.

I thought if you lost 5 or more players to this game there was the option to move your game on the Sunday to later in the year.

Not good signs for Brough, hope it's nothing too serious, he's been a real talent this year. Can certainly see Lomax having a call up now.

Quite possibly, Brough is not likely to have a chance to shake that off. I'd hope not though (yet), we have enough players injured or going to have to play 2 games in 3 days.

Myler is in the squad is he not?
