How did Josh Jones play today Rogues? Tremendous talent!

Oh by thevway Josh as NEVER played stand off!!

Was that NEVER for me?
I was quite disappointed to be honest as I was expecting much more from him, but to be fair both sides were under strength and probably disjointed.

As I said Nathan Ash must really frustrate the saints coaching staff. Unless I'm unlucky for him because every time I have seen him he has made superb breaks but then done the wrong thing.

Really?
"Centre/second rower Josh has signed from Blackbrook but previously played for Leyland Warriors and Chorley Panthers. He has been a scholar for four years, attended all Regional Camps and captained at England under 15s. He is currently in the RFL’s national training program in preparation for this year’s England selection."

Re: Squad for Monday : Sat Apr 23, 2011 7:51 pm
Copied and pasted direct from the Saints website:

Josh is from Chorley and joined the club when he was 13 from Blackbrook but previously played for Leyland Warriors and Chorley Panthers. He toured Australia with the Academy in 2009 and is eligible to play in the u18s and u20s competitions. He was England 15 and 16s captain and is currently a member of the England Academy Squad. He can play centre, wing, stand off and in the back row and has been training with the first team squad on a part time basis.

That has been taken from the first team information, where he has just had a profile placed under the number 30.

Wellens was on crutches today so it doesn't look like he'll be playing on Monday!

Great! Not. Another long termer.

Our team cannot handle the pace of our own team. Groins, ankles, hamstrings ... we should stop trying to run so fast!

Being serious, what is the problem?

For two years we've had massive injury problems and just can't keep our players fit.

Is it they just not tough enough? Is it our training methods? Is it just pure bad luck?

I have a theory.

I know from what Flannery said in the press that Potter demanded (his word) that his players put on weight. Putting on weight will put pressure on certain parts of the body. Potter also liked us to barge forward. That may be why we had a predominance of muscle injuries over the last two seasons. Simmons stated in the press when he first came over here that he left the conditioning side to the conditioner. The conditioner asked him what plan he wanted but he handed the job back to the conditioner. Simmons has speeded us up good style. Our injuries are now largely athletic ones: ankles, hamstrings, groins. The only upper body injuries have been direct results of tackles (Clough and Wheeler; Clough has a complication to his of course).

So my theory is that the type of injuries suffered are as a direct result of the style of play adopted by the coach AND the conditioning regime.

Good theory, eh? :D
