Ah, AC not ACL. That explains things. Hopefully it isn't too bad.

The Twitter report had AC on it. I've no idea what either injury means, except they are something to do with the shoulder!

ACL would be anterior cruciate ligament and around 8 months out, so I'm just glad it isn't that! (I thought initially it was Wellens that Carlos meant as he seemed to have a leg injury). Hopefully it'll be a standard recovery without an operation.

The quote from Saints on Twitter was: Wheeler out for 'a long time' with an AC injury. I don't know what 'a long time' means but it sounds more like months than weeks, don't you think? However, it was AC, and not ACL.

Wello has an ankle injury and, again according to his tweet, will be seen by the medics this week to assess the damage.

Wigan fan in peace.

I thought Wheeler was outstanding before his injury and him going off was a turning point. He is a player who I have never really rated when I have seen him before and he just seemed yet another Eddie and Stevo love child who they go on and on about after doing little. Today though he was the best player on the pitch before going off and I hope he isnt out for too long.

The AC joint is short for the acromioclavicular joint. Separation of the two bones forming this joint is caused by damage to the ligaments connecting them. Nasty and will take quite some time to mend. Poor lad is very unlucky and the whole incident was bad; not even a penalty and play continued round him without any stoppage at all!

I HATE ALL THE PIES

Re: Wheeler : Fri Apr 22, 2011 6:05 pm
A big shame for gary - can't understand why the late tackle was not put on report or at least penalised.

I just knew it would all go pear shaped after we lost him and wello.
Not only were they pivotal players, but as sizzler said it impacted on the bench options as well.
After they went we dropped our heads a bit after totally dominating them for 30 mins.

No one mentioning the blatant forward pass for the goon first try?
Having said that we were a little like headless chickens at the end and I think we did well to come so close.

the ac joint helps with arm rotation and also allows raising the arm over the head, its a very painfull and awkward injury, basically any raising of that arm results in excrucuaiting pain

It comes in different severities according to google. Depends how severe it is but it could be potentially career ending.

The Acromion Process, basically.

Not a very nice injury at all.

What was ironic was Wigan fans, and Pat Richards saying that Gardner took him out after he had put a kick through, towards the end of the game. I wonder what their view on Hoffman's challenge on Wheeler was?

It is a shame for wheeler. He was looking good over last weeks and looked up for the game today.

IMO the was nothing in the challenge by Hoffman. That sort of hit happens every week in every game. Wilkin does it and hooper was alwYs at it.

Shoulder injuries can be bad. I did my shoulder playing at haydock and it was never the same. Even 6yrs on and it still have problems.
