Longy might be coming back to the North West but it wont be with Saints unless its in a coaching role only. It would be just plain stupid to bring him back on the playing roster.

I could see Long being drafted in this season if Eastmond leaves early (i.e when the RU season ends and they get room under their cap) but I think this will be his last year for any club.

Longy no chance, I should imagine the club are lining up 2 big names for the 2012 season in the new stadium.

This would be madness. If Eastmond left early I would be more inclined to give Gaskell, Lomax or maybe Wheeler (if he ever gets fit) a run at Scrum Half. Why bring back somebody when there best days are behind them?????

Experience is a very useful commodity. Long is still a fine player if a club could get him on the field consistently. Even on one leg he's better than Wheeler and Lomax. Gaskell is still completely unknown but he's not shown an obvious level of talent that we should build a club around.

Thats about on a par with me saying im keen to win the lottery, or im keen to buy a new car.

It doesnt mean i will do and is nothing more than a wish.

At no point does it state anywhere in the article that Saints are keen to sign Longy back.

That doesnt mean we wouldnt take him back in some coaching capacity, but realistically the guy will need to either retire at the end of the season, or finish his days at Leigh.

If Pryce were to leave for Bradford as expected and we announced the signing of an international stand off, would you not take Long as the experienced scrum half?

We've got massive, massive problems looming next season. Pryce, Eastmond, Graham, Tony P. Four of our five best players could be off.

The red-tops are a dying institution in these days of the internet because they're competing with so many more news sources and rumour mills. That they are increasingly resorting to recycling stories they read on message boards etc a week or more later is indicative of this.
