Well it's better than getting ours in. I don't agree with this MM game - never have and never will. It is unfair to all teams unless you win of course. You can see what I am getting at rogues.
I think it devalues the competition, take this year for example, we had Huddersfield compared to Wire having Salford. We could easily have lost that game. Its unfair.
If they have to persist with a weekend event then why not have the suggested Yorks/Lancs or Superleague XIII vs England. Add in a couple more games like a couple of the 4 nations qualifiers (Wales vs Ireland) and have the 7's tournament as well.
People would still be interested in a lot of those games and hopefully get a reasonable crowd without devaluing SL.

I'm not really a fan of the magic idea but I don't have a problem with the extra fixture. The RFL is trying to generate publicity for our sport so I'm all for them trying it out even if it fails. We've always been a pretty progressive sport that's looked to try and do things differently and we shouldn't stray away from that ethos of imagination and creativity.

Agreed, However this one will be the first one we (mrs Rogue and I) have missed. We've always aenjoyed the weekend and met some great people from all clubs (yes even Saints ) However the thought of sitting in a stadium for two days in February has put us off. Had it been May we would have gone.
I may travel down for the day (which is NOT the idea of the Magic weekend), but we are now looking to go to Tenerife and watch the games in a friends bar.

I think the idea of a weekend event is a good thing, I just don't see how it can add to the competition. I think they should make it an international match, or a SOO match, with a few other competitions thrown in.
Nothing wrong with the weekend in principal but the fixtures need to be looked at.
Especially with it being at the beginning of the new season the games should be based on the previous years leagues standings so it should be something like 1v2, 3v4, 5v6, etc. Which would be much fairer as at least then you don't end up with a team like wire getting salford every year.
