Following dialogue between the Club and ourselves, we can confirm that Saints are indeed looking into the possibility of a final game at Knowsley Road, possibly against the Wigan Warriors, on Monday 27th December 2010.
This may take form in the shape of a potential festival at the ground, including past players, ceremonies etc and the match itself.
Due to matters outside of the Club's control, they will be unable to make a firm decision on this for several weeks.
The matter is complicated in that Taylor Wimpey take possession of the land at the front of the stadium in early November. This will have consequences for crowd access and safety. Any potential game will need signing off from all the authorities and Taylor Wimpey before the club can confirm whether or not it will go ahead.

Then of course there is the weather. I'm not sure Saints head steward is that clued up on long distance weather forecasts.

I have said my goodbyes in an emotional game for the past 25 years that the ground has been entertaining me. I don't want to say them again in a boxing day youth game which means nothing, I wouldn't be attending.
There is no way we can put out strong sides anymore on Boxing day. Foreign players will have only just arrived or arriving back. International players will be unavailable as they would not have had a break due to being in Oz. We want them fit and ready for the new season not crocked because of some stupid meaningless game to prolong the agony for the Old Girl. Just let her go with a bit of peace and dignity. Also we should be getting used to our 'new ground' for next season and that is at the home of the Vikings and not KR.
