He's always retained his strength in finishing, but its odd (or demonstrates the fine line between sucess and failure) how his ability to field kicks has yo-yoed through out his career.

You could argue that his ability to field kicks won us the match against Castleford . . . .

I agree he is far from consistent though.

When he came through as a first teamer, he couldn't take a kick to save his life and it asounded me the way he improved. In the 2006 campaign he was absolutely peppered throughout the playoffs and took every one with aplomb, then we turned it into an attacking option.
These days he seems to have mainly reverted to mark I Gardner.

I'd have Tom Briscoe in ahead of both of them. He's got that extra bit of class that I think Goulding and Riley both lack which will set him apart from the other young wingers.

Agreed.
I'd still take Goulding as part of the squad because he can also cover the centre position.

He can be a bit shakey defensively though from what I've seen of him on TV.

I rather like the look of Leroy Cudjoe. He is strong, fast, and confident and alert enough to take those interceptions. He is also bound to be good at defence, being a Giant and all. I think he should get a call up for one wing spot.

Briscoe's defence have saved games a couple of times. His last minute tackle on Fox won the Hull derby that day.

Cudjoe is another I would hope to see in a few years, but aren't they moving him infield to centre?

I only like Cudjoe playing on the wing if he got a chance at international level. The problem we have at international level is that we have no competition to test the fringe players. I'd like to see something like England play an Super League superstar team during the season. We all know playing France is a waste of time

Everyone knows this so why dont the RFL do the sensible thing and scrap it???? Playing France is a complete and utter waste of time for the players and specators money. Im sure playing a Super League All Star team like you say would provide a much stronger challenge and most probably get more specators through the turnstiles.

Tom Briscoe has really come on this year. He looked out of his depth in the Four Nations last year but he's kicked on this year and along with Hall is probably our best winger. Sure, he's no Israel Folau, but he's a good 'un.
