Worries about the crowd? : Sun Feb 07, 2016 6:10 pm
Is anyone worried about the crowds this season? Just over 10,000 is a poor crowd for a season opener and Huddersfield for once brought a decent amount over, certainly more than the average side brings to Langtree Park. It was also the season opener, which is usually around 2,500 higher than the same fixture would get in mid season, due to the buzz of the season being back. The weather is the only counter weight and it was raining so hard that perhaps there were a few hundred who bottled out on the night. But then again, do we even have cash turnstiles anymore? Can you just turn up and pay like the old days?We know the 5 year deals have come to an end now and I'll bet a big proportion of those haven't bothered to renew at the higher prices, when the fare on offer last season was so poor. The Super League product is very poor these days, good quality games like the Leeds v Warrington game are rare, when they used to be every week for the Sky games.
Could we see crowds for the Wakefield, Catalans, Cas, Hull KR games slip well below 10,000 this season? Average down below 10,000 as well a possibility?
