A thread for the optimists : Fri Aug 14, 2015 8:46 pm
So - will the Cunningham apologists' society now have fewer members after that? Will they now see what the enlightened amongst us have been saying since the second he was appointed?

I'll keep it simple and you can blame who you like - in my view there's only one man responsible for this season's performances (not just tonight's) and it's him no matter how much his limited intellect attempts to deflect ALL the blame onto his players.

Shambolic, embarrassing, beyond reproach and something has to give. This is as bad as the season Simmons got sacked.

Please discuss.

We can be bold enough to make a stand and do battle for our views and beliefs. But we must strive to be mature enough not to resort to unnecessary personal attacks upon people with opposing views.

Now where near as bad.

We were heading for the middle 8s when Simmons was sacked.

But it's true you've been running this since before a ball was kicked so no reason to change the tune now it's going your way.

You think I want it to go 'my way' just so I can say 'I told you so'? Really?

I've been watching this team for 44 years but that doesn't afford me the right to say 'I know more than you' in any sense. However, can you seriously not see that we are sliding towards an unacceptable standard for this Club? One that's becoming more the norm than the exception.

If you don't then I'm curious to know who you DO hold to account for it.

I've never seen a saints side lack ideas like this one. They are totally clueless. Most boring saints team in many many years and im getting very very bored watching us.

The best team won tonight without a doubt.

I just don't get the team selections and not picking Amor is a joke. Yes Amor not been great but he puts his body on the line and provides help for walmsley. With Amor not there it leaves us a virtual one man pack at times in big Alex.

Send that lazy pudding mose home now! He's just utter rubbish. Imo he's behind every prop we have at the club. He's just awful. I think he did four carries tonight and that's embarissing for a pro.

The way you go on about KC it clearly IS personal for some reason. I just had a quick browse of your posts because I figured I'd find a post of you unnecessarily criticising KC after a decent win ie our complete dominance against Wigan in June. After we beat Huddersfield, Wire and Hull KR in consecutive weeks? Not a single post on any match. After we beat Hull FC, Wire, Salford and Wigan in consecutive weeks? Not a single comment on any match. You only bother commenting when we lose which automatically means it is KC's fault to you.

I blame Dawson. He's clearly at fault and should not be in the Saints team.

What??!!!!!

I've no issue being critical of KC.

I've already said I did not want him to get the job last year. But I'm not dogmatic about it.

Saying this season is worse than Simmons is mathematically inaccurate so I would say trying to compare the two is exaggeration of some scale.

But clearly in the last few weeks the wheels have come off.

I've not seen tonight's game so unfair for me to comment. But something is amiss. However I think it's too early to call it terminal.

Which is a big difference.

Permit me to point out a few serious flaws in your argument:

1 - I do not know KC. I have never met him. Ergo how can it be personal? If I consider a player consistently not to be up to the standard we expect/need does that mean it's personal too? Maybe everyone who bags Matt Dawson means they are all personal towards him too?

2 - You are correct in that I didn't comment on those results. There's a reason - that's my expectation.

3 - I'm referring to performances. You are referring to results which is what most blinkered Saints fans do. My assertion at the moment is that we are grossly under performing and it's not acceptable. It's happened too often despite the results you cite.

4 - I judge people on their merits and I don't care if it contradicts the populist approach that he's untouchable because he has a statue. That was yesterday. This is today. The Peter Principle applies in abundance.

5 - I have lost an immense amount of respect for him as he appears to be Mr Teflon. Always someone else's fault and doesn't accept any responsibility. Ever. Middles. Edges. Half Backs. Senior Players. Junior Players. Never him.

6 - Criticising his players in public. Not acceptable. Clearly the apologists will say 'aww leave him alone it's his first year'. I don't care. You don't do that. Ever. It's simply unprofessional.

So. Sorry to torpedo your knee jerk apologist reaction with facts but there you go. Let's see how we go next week and the week after ey? Confident? No?

Wonder why.

The new young dynasty of super saints is coming to a ground near you.
Welsby-Dodd-Simms-Eaves-Rizzelli, not Eastmond...the future is coming.

I think we need have a go at the players first (Excluding Walmsley and Roby) before we get to KC. The players didn,t look interested at all after 20 mins, can,t tackle a "hot dinner" all of them, we should change our name from the Saints to the ..... SLOTHS.

I,m blaming Mugwump for these losses, him going on holiday has obviously upset the coach and players.
