Next season's back division : Sat Jul 04, 2015 1:25 pm  

Estimating which players are likely to come up from the juniors next season, losses, returning injured, squad players and those holding down positions - how are we fixed in terms of quality, strength-in-depth and flexibility?

Do we need to bring in more players? If so - which positions? Which players are "under threat" right now? I can't imagine we need less so I guess replenishment is the order of the day.

A centre, at least 1 winger, and maybe a FB depending on Lomax's recovery.

I love to see us sign a big, fast centre and winger. We look so lightweight even with everyone fit.

Bailey, Fleming, Ashworth (if he stills plays centre), Richardson all a year older so I'd expect to see them play a bit more if we have injuries instead of bringing over Aussies during the season if we get injuries.

What's happening with the McGilvery rumours? He'd be perfect for Saints. Failing that, Broughton isn't exactly first choice, and I'm sure you could get him.

3 - Percival
4 - Turner
5 - Makinson
6 - Needed
7 - Needed

The complete mismatch with Leeds in these positions is the reason we keep embarrassing ourselves against them.

Obviously I'm not suggesting we'd get all those players in one off season.

I'd agree with most of that...there are so many ifs and buts...is Luke Walsh gonna make a full psychological recovery, is Burns going to return to his previous form, is Lomax going to be the same player...is McDonnell?

I watch as many 19s games as possible and know people at the club and my opinion and those who I know at the club are not confident of many of the 19s backs coming thru next year.

I've said we need a good strike centre but Turner has been exceptional with the ball in hand but it's his defence that worries me so not sure what Id do.

Imo we do need some strike power in the backs.

I can't say I watch the 19s but everyone bangs on about Wellington and Grace as our saviours and how they should be played. Reading the reports they always seem to score a few. But how is the defensive side of their game? Would they be physically ready in your opinion to step up next season if called upon?
