Brown's post match excuse : Sun Jun 15, 2014 12:13 am
Nathan Brown wrote:
At the end of the game, I thought we needed to be better with the effort levels. Even though we couldn't win the game, we needed to be better with the effort that we showed.

So I take it we're going to see several players being dropped for next week then? Anyone else sick of his 'It's not my fault' routine?

I was sick of it last season!

He's right, of course, but he never fixes it so it's as much his fault as theirs.

Any coach worth his salt should be deeply concerned by a performance like that. There's no shame in losing in France but the attitude of the players was abysmal and our forwards were completely dominated to the point were some had blatantly given up by the hour mark, disgraceful from Masoe in particular who plodded around the pitch without a care in the world why the young kid Thompson got through five times as much work.

It was awful to watch, I don't normally get carried away like this during these regular season games and evidently neither do the players, absolutely no professional pride. I feel sorry the the many fans who travelled over and I hope they can enjoy the rest of their trip after watching that rabble.

Your spot on there, he's totally bang on with his post match summary but never does anything about it. He's been banging on about certain players not pulling their weight but still picks them week in and week out.

No doubt we will have Turner come out this week spouting his usual crap that it ain't good enough and he holds his hand up about not playing well.

simmons was sacked and mike rush took over...may i suggest something similar happens now with brown..and get on the phone to daniel anderson....i dont mind losing, but to do it in that fashion (on the telly an all)..was embarrasing...there's no moves whatsoever in the the team..just plodding up the field (at walking pace) is crap....would someone please explain to brown and co what an offload is and a fast play the ball..sorry eamon he'll have to go!

Re: Brown's post match excuse : Sun Jun 15, 2014 7:28 am
Most of the blame must go onto the players though and less on the coach. Potter, Simmons and Brown don,t come across with great man management skills.
Its as though our main priority is a Sports Psycholigist to get inside the players heads to raise the intensity effort in games.
We,ve played 16 superleague games so far and I can only remember about 4 games where the players attitude to the game is acceptable.
The problem for Brown is yes he could drop about 4 senior players and take the risk of a downward spiral. We are lucky at the moment that Superleague is poor with most teams can,t perform at a high level of consistently.
Next weekend is the biggest game of the season to get the team into the right mind set prior to the play offs.

The responsibility for that lies with both the players and the coach. The time has long passed where it's an either/or situation but ultimately it's the coach who is paid to prepare the team with the right personnel in the right positions, an appropriate game plan and preparation for the match ahead. That's his job. He is failing to do it. Brown chose some of this team so when Masoe fails to do anything, that's Brown's choice of player so he should get his player to work. If Masoe doesn't work then drop him and play someone who will work. We are on a downward spiral anyway because we look a shadow of the team we were before Good Friday and we are never going to get injured players back for long enough for them to make a difference, although to be honest the senior players seem to make a negative difference when they return.

Next weekend is the biggest game of the season to get the team into the right mind set prior to the play offs.

We will lose. We can't perform in games where there are expectations on our shoulders. We have shown that four times now. And Brown is making that worse, given that the latest loss is the worst of all of them.

Our "tactics" last night were incredibly dull. 5 drives and a woeful kick. Surely Brown is accountable for that!?

I thought we was trying to move the ball away from the middle which resulted in the dropped ball brown refers to. I don't think we can play the 5 drives abs kick as we not got the forwards to go it. Lms, Mose, flash, wello, Wilkin, laffranchi are powder puff forwards.

Isn't it ironic that we thought our biggest strength this year was our pack which really is where we are worst.

It didn't seem to me that we did anything but plod it forward. Our pack is embarrassing at times and we lack ideas in the backs.

Sorry to say it but I'm fully in the Brown Out brigade now I'm afraid.
